Guide to Evaluating Health Information on the World Wide Web (2001)
Guide to help older adults and caregivers find and evaluate health information on the World Wide Web.
Project Description:
The SPRY Foundation has developed a guide for older adults and their caregivers on how to evaluate health content on web sites. The guide is a synthesis of evaluation criteria from a number of well-respected groups, such as the Health on the Net organization, Hi-Ethics, the British Healthcare Internet Association, the Better Business Bureau, the Internet Healthcare Coalition, and others. The guide explains how to examine health web sites for authorship, reliability, currency, disclaimers, privacy notices, web site support, copyright, and other characteristics that assist users in evaluating content.
Partners:
This guide is a follow up to the 2001 NIH Conference and was supported by 26 government and private sponsors.
